White Street Fire Station // Springfield, Massachusetts

Dore + Whittier, with programming partner CR architecture + design, designed a 16,200 sq. ft. facility with three bays, a conference/training room on the second floor, and living quarters on the third floor. The team designed a solution that met the client’s main directives: construct a 50-year building that is energy efficient and as “green as possible," minimize construction impacts on the neighborhood, and provide an asset that will be key to the community’s revitalization efforts. Fire Station #3 became the City's first LEED-certified building and the Northeast's first LEED-Gold fire station.

Awarded the Bronze Medal for Career Stations from Fire Chief Station Style, and received the FIERO Honor Award (one of only 5 in the country).
