Phase 2 of the Westwood Public Safety improvement program was completed in late 2017. After a comprehensive programming effort and a space needs analysis, Dore & Whittier developed a design for a new police station to replace the severely undersized and cramped facility, a third the size of the planned building.
A new access road was constructed and the new structure sits adjacent to the venerable Town Hall. The old station continued in operation while the new facility was constructed behind it. The new building was oriented and designed to augment the architectural strength and complement the historic character of the neighboring Town Hall, and to broaden the civic flavor of the municipal campus as well.
