D&W was hired in 2005 to prepare a Feasibility Study for the High School and a long term Master Plan for the Middle School (currently located on an adjacent site). The Study included the review of previous study materials and current school and town-owned sites to assess their suitability for construction of a new high school facility.

Our tasks included an update of the educational specifications, evaluation of site improvements, development of project cost estimates and timelines, creation of various conceptual design options and assistance with public presentations. The study also included appropriate “high performance” design strategies and building technologies.

CO-LOCATION & SHARED CORE SPACES

At the beginning of 2011, the Town and MSBA selected D&W for the Phase 1 Feasibility Study & Schematic Design for a new High School. D&W was subsequently retained to provide design and construction administrative services for the selected and approved option. A new LEED™ Gold High School was constructed adjacent to the Middle School, which was renovated; core areas are shared and the old High School has been demolished.

The facility received the 2016 Engineering News-Record (ENR) Award of Merit in the K-12 Education category.
