Under a current House Doctor contract, Dore & Whittier has completed a chiller study that evaluated several options to add cooling for four campus residence halls and produced a final design that outlines a phased, 7-year project. The initial phase of construction began in 2016; the first of two, 200-ton chillers and a new transformer will be installed during the summer of 2017. Later, a 2,000 square foot portion of the basement in Thompson Hall will be renovated to create an electrical room and space for the chilled water pumps. Minor renovations and related site work will be needed when the halls are to be readied and brought on line over time.
