Dore + Whittier started working with the Town of Dedham in 2003 when a district-wide Master Plan was developed for the Dedham Public Schools. Identified in the Master Plan were a new Middle School and a replacement Avery Elementary School, both of which have been completed having been designed by Dore + Whittier Architects. The Middle School project was challenging in that there were significant site issues that needed to be settled with the general contractor, which led to a mediation process midway through the project. Ultimately, these issues were resolved without having to litigate; however, the schedule was impacted and the Owner and original OPM were not able to reach agreement on a contract extension. Dore + Whittier was asked to step in and provide OPM services to complete the construction of the school and to close out the project.
Dore + Whittier Architects also designed the project. View the completed school on our Architecture Website.
