We are designers and leaders, but first we are humans, with an enduring dedication to the environment and to one another.

Integrated Design

Endless potential happens at the intersection of learning and place. Our educational environments inspire curiosity, discovery, and multigenerational collaboration.

K-12 Education

Clear communication, strong partnerships, and a collaborative leadership model result in the most inclusive and efficient project.

Owner’s Project Management

We leverage design’s capacity to bolster occupants’ physical and mental health and wellness, optimizing the way people live, work, learn, and play.

Commercial

We take our cue from our surroundings—the pulse of the neighborhood, the story and traditions of the people, and the patterns found in the natural landscape.

Public Safety

We value and invite diverse voices, backgrounds, and viewpoints. Our differences make us stronger. Our unique perspectives make us human.

The Sawyer Free Library brings together historic p The Sawyer Free Library brings together historic preservation and contemporary design through the renovation of existing buildings and a new addition that helps redefine the library’s mission.

Connecting structures from 1764, 1913, and 1976, the project creates a cohesive, accessible, and flexible civic resource. The addition anchors the library’s circulation with a new central stair and introduces light-filled spaces for reading, studying, gathering, and other library programming.

A collaboration with @oudenselloarchitecture, the all-electric, LEED Gold-certified project supports Gloucester’s future while honoring its past.

Meet Valerie Marshall, Associate and Specification Writer, who has been part of D+W for 22 years.

Val knew she wanted to work in architecture back in middle school, and D+W is only the second firm she’s worked for. “I enjoy it so much that I’ve been here a while.”

Outside the office, she’s been sewing since age six and recently took up quilting – something she now tries to make time for daily. She’s created handmade baby gifts for coworkers and memory bears from her grandfather’s shirts for her family.

Fun fact: she made her own prom dress and maid of honor dress for her best friend’s wedding.

We’re grateful for the experience, care, and consistency Val brings to our team.

Yesterday, we celebrated the topping off of the new Hatherly-Cushing Elementary School—the tradition marking placement of the final structural beam at the building’s highest point. This moment honors the dedication of everyone bringing the project to life and symbolizes good luck for the future students and educators of this school.

Before the lift, the beam was signed by contractors, town leaders, and members of the project team—a lasting reminder of the collaboration behind this future home for learning.

We’re grateful to help create a school designed to serve Scituate for generations.

The new Norfolk Fire Station represents more than The new Norfolk Fire Station represents more than a modern facility—it’s a community investment in safety, firefighter health and welfare, sustainability, and long-term performance.

Fully electric and Net-Zero Energy Ready, the station was the first fire station accepted into the MassSave Pathway 1 ZNE-Ready program and the first to meet the program’s ambitious EUI target, setting a new benchmark for climate-conscious public safety design in New England.

Designed in harmony with the surrounding neighborhood and local historic architectural character, the station provides a resilient, future-focused home for Norfolk’s fire department and the community it serves.
