Westwood Police Station // Westwood, Massachusetts

Our Feasibility Study for the Town’s two fire stations and police station resulted in a public safety improvement plan which proposed a sequential upgrade beginning with a new fire station in Islington followed by a new police station at the existing site and a renovation/addition project at the Fire Headquarters.

Phase 2 of the Westwood Public Safety improvement program is well underway. Dore & Whittier has developed a schematic design for a new 19,116 square foot police station to replace the severely undersized and cramped facility, a third the size of the planned building.

A new access road will be constructed and the new structure will occupy open space on the existing site, adjacent to the venerable Town Hall (above left), enabling uninterrupted operation of the police department during construction. Campus parking and access will be reconfigured. The new building has been oriented and designed to augment the architectural strength and complement the character of the neighboring Town Hall, and to broaden the civic flavor of the municipal campus.

A vote at the Spring 2016 Town Meeting appropriated construction funding.
