Newton North High School // Newton, Massachusetts

Achieving LEED™ Gold status, Newton North is the City’s first municipal building to be LEED certified. Sustainable design goals for energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and water efficiency were integrated into the components needed for occupant comfort. Well-versed in Green Design, Dore & Whittier is a member of the USGBC and has achieved LEED Gold on numerous recent projects.

The Project combines a traditional academic institution with vocational elements that afford Newton’s students with a broad range of educational opportunities. The facilities accommodate the school’s strong academic program and include designated spaces for STEM programs, such as a robotics lab, a technology lab, and engineering classroom space. Vocational technical programs include a culinary arts kitchen, pottery studio, darkroom suite, carpentry and auto shop.

A comprehensive athletic program is supported with a full complement of athletic fields and facilities including a natatorium, field house, indoor track, competition gym, and a 2000-seat stadium. The City is well known for its theatrical program and the 650-seat performance and more intimate "black box" theaters offer new and exciting opportunities.
